We Hike to Heal – Cedar Mountain, NC, FREE Women’s Group Hike
Our mission at We Hike to Heal is to build an inclusive community that normalizes self care, creates a sacred space for healing and adventure, and prioritizes the mental and emotional wellbeing of all women. Because we believe that when women thrive, the world thrives.
This is the fourth event in a series of FREE mindful hikes for women. We will incorporate more distance and elevation as the year goes on. Come to one hike or join us for all! We welcome all fitness levels. Our goal is to enjoy the journey.
This hike features Fawn Lake and Lake Julia in DuPont State Forest. We’ll start with a short hike to Fawn Lake where we’ll stop for a guided meditation. Then we’ll hike 2 miles taking breaks along the way, and do a little journaling and/or swimming at Lake Julia before hiking 2 miles back.
This loop trail is rated as a beginner trail, 4.3 miles in length with 436 feet of elevation change. The trailhead is approximately one hour from Asheville, NC; one hour and 15 minutes from Greenville, SC. Parking is limited. Please arrive early and carpool, if possible.

Time: Plan to arrive at 8:45am with 9am departure. Please be punctual.
Location/Directions: The Fawn Lake trailhead is located at Fawn Lake Access Area in DuPont State Forest, 3051 Reasonover Road, Cedar Mountain, NC
Difficulty level/Distance: 4.3 miles on a easy, out-and-back trail (436 feet of elevation gain).
Restroom Facilities: There is a portable toilet at the Fawn Lake Access Area.
What you will need for this hike:
- Plenty of water to drink (we recommend at least 1 liter)
- Snacks
- Comfortable hiking shoes/boots or trail sneakers with good traction
- Comfortable moisture wicking clothing (i.e. workout clothes)
- Bathing suit, water shoes or Chacos, and a towel if you would like to swim
- A towel or cushion to sit on if you’re uncomfortable sitting on the ground
- Trekking poles or any other items that would make your hike more comfortable
- Your journal and something to write with
- A daypack/backpack to carry all your items

This event is for women identified folks 18 and older only.* WH2H Group hikes are free events and our Ambassadors are unpaid volunteers.
