APRIL 2026

🌱Growth Happens When We Step Forward🙋🏽

Happy spring, Reader-

Spring invites growth.

Not the kind that rushes — but the kind that unfolds, slowly and intentionally.

At We Hike to Heal, growth doesn’t just mean reaching more women. It means deepening the spaces we already hold. It means creating more opportunities for connection, for healing, for women to step outside and feel supported.

And this May, that growth depends on something simple: Women willing to lead.

The #WeHikeToHeal Challenge Returns in May

Our annual #WeHikeToHeal Challenge is a month-long journey rooted in:

  • Time outdoors
  • Journaling
  • Meditation
  • Community connection
  • Collective fundraising

This year’s theme is magical:

Guided By the Wisdom of Numbers,

Nature and Alignment

Women across the country will be showing up for themselves — and for each other.

But for this experience to reach as many communities as possible, we need Hike Leads. Learn more about this opportunity below.

We’re Calling in Hike Leads

You do not need to be an expert hiker to lead.

You simply need:

  • A willingness to gather women
  • A safe and thoughtful approach to the outdoors
  • A desire to create space for connection

Our Hike Leads:

  • Choose a local trail or outdoor space
  • Set a date/time that works for them
  • Invite women in their community to join
  • Hold a simple, supportive space (we provide optional journaling + meditation prompts)

This is leadership in its most accessible form.

What You’ll Receive

We support our Hike Leads with:

  • A simple Hike Lead guide
  • Weekly Challenge themes
  • Optional journaling prompts + meditations
  • Promotion through our national platform
  • Ongoing support from our team

You are not doing this alone — you are part of a collective movement!

Join one of our upcoming Hike Lead Info Sessions where you can ask all your questions and learn what it takes to be a WH2H Hike Lead:
Friday, April 10th @ 5 pm EST / 2 pm PST

Tuesday, April 14th @ Noon EST / 9 am PST

Why This Matters

Not every woman has access to:

  • Outdoor community
  • Safe, welcoming group spaces
  • Mental health support that feels accessible

By leading a hike, you are helping change that.

You are creating:

  • A moment of pause
  • A space of belonging
  • A pathway to healing

And that impact extends far beyond a single walk.

More new things we’re celebrating…

👋Meet New WH2H Board Member, Brittany!

  • What first drew you to We Hike to Heal? The community and focus on self-care. Finding a safe and inviting community created by women to uplift women felt refreshing.
  • What does community leadership look like to you? Community leadership is leading with heart instead of ego. It looks like creating a space that encourages inclusivity and authenticity, and serving in the best interests of the collective.
  • What committees will you be leading/serving and how will you shine there? I’m excited to support programming and lead the marketing committee. My focus will be on WH2H’s storytelling and brand strategy.
  • When I’m not outdoors, I’m usually in my kitchen baking sourdough bread and desserts.
  • Where can our community find you? You’ll most likely find me walking on the Beltline with my husband and two dogs.

⏰Time for some spring cleaning.

Help Shape the Future of WH2H

As we continue growing, we are also expanding the ways women can engage with this work — including through our upcoming digital resource platform launching early summer.

This short community survey helps us build with you, not just for you.

Your responses will directly shape:
• What resources we create
• How we grow our leadership team
• How we demonstrate measurable impact to future partners and funders

It takes just a few minutes, and your input truly matter💚

🪻Growth doesn’t happen all at once.

It happens when one woman says, “yes.” And then another. And then another.

We hope you’ll step into becoming a hike lead with us not as a should or as a must, but as an I get to!

And I can only ask this of you, as this season of growth has also had me step forward in leadership to serve We Hike to Heal as Interim Executive Director while Michelle takes a well-deserved sabbatical for the remainder of the year.

Let’s lead together.

With gratitude,

Deva

Interim Executive Director, We Hike to Heal 🌿

P.S. I welcome any of your thoughts, concerns, insights, or words of encouragement as I take the lead on this new path for me! deva@wehiketoheal.org
