At We Hike to Heal, Ambassadors are more than group hike leaders – they embody the heart and soul of our mission. As an Ambassador, you become an extension the organization, a champion of the healing power of nature, and a creator of sacred spaces where women can be seen, heard, and connected.

Ambassadors commit to:

  • A one-year term of service, with the option to renew annually.

  • Completing the We Hike to Heal Ambassador Training, which includes facilitation, community care, and trauma-informed practices.

  • Maintaining current First Aid/CPR certification throughout their term.

  • Organizing and hosting a minimum of six (6) We Hike to Heal group hikes per year in their local community.

  • Raising or contributing a minimum of $250 annually to support We Hike to Heal programs and operations.

  • Actively engaging with the Ambassador community, including participation in regional Facebook groups, monthly team meetings, and ongoing communication via Slack and email.

  • Upholding the We Hike to Heal Ambassador Code of Conduct and Confidentiality Agreement, ensuring a respectful, inclusive, and supportive experience for all participants.

Focus Cities

We want to take over urban areas small and large all across the county and create powerful We Hike to Heal communities for women everywhere!

We will prioritize these focus cities locations but encourage you to apply even if you are outside of these areas.

  • Complimentary registration for paid We Hike to Heal events, when applicable.

  • An Ambassador Kit to support your role, including:

    • First aid kit

    • We Hike to Heal flag

    • Clipboard and printed materials

    • Liability insurance and participant waivers

    • We Hike to Heal t-shirt

    • Nature Meditations Deck

    • Stickers, flyers, and other community resources

  • A quarterly stipend to help offset costs associated with hosting hikes and fulfilling Ambassador responsibilities.

 

  • 30% discount in the Outdoor Journal Tour / We Hike to Heal shop.

  • Visibility and amplification through the broader Outdoor Journal Tour and We Hike to Heal platforms, including opportunities to share your events via social media and newsletters.

  • Opportunities for growth and leadership as the nonprofit evolves, including deeper involvement, mentorship, and expanded roles.

  • A supportive leadership community where you are encouraged, valued, and heard.

  • Meaningful connection and purpose, knowing you are helping other women reconnect with themselves, nature, and community.

Frequently Asked Questions

The process includes an online application, a review period, and—if selected—a follow-up conversation before onboarding and training. If you have any questions please reach out to info@wehiketoheal.org

We look for individuals who are dependable, compassionate, community-minded, and aligned with We Hike to Heal’s values of inclusivity, care, and connection.

Our annual Ambassador Recruitment takes place in August of each year. 

While we center women of color, We Hike to Heal is a community for all women identified individuals. 

Yes. Ambassadors must maintain current First Aid/CPR certification throughout their term. This helps ensure the safety of all participants.

We estimate between 4-12 hours per month, give or take depending on your activity level. 

Time commitments include:

  • 1 hour/per month: Virtual Ambassador Meeting 
  • 2 hours +/- /per month: Engagement in regional Facebook Groups and other social platforms
  • 6-8 hours +/- / every other month: Scouting, scheduling, planning, hosting and reporting group hikes (min. 6 per year)
  • 2 hours +/-/ per month: Slack communications

While we will prioritize the focus cities, we encourage you to apply even if you are outside of these areas. We will review all applications and we are always open to your recommendations.
