We Hike to Heal – Milton, MA, FREE Women’s Group Hike

January 18, 2025 @ 11:45 am - 2:15 pm EST
Free
Join We Hike to Heal Ambassador, Kayla, for this FREE Women’s Group Hike! We will hike to the historic Eliot Tower of Blue Hills.

Welcome 🙂 Kick off your weekend with fresh air, community, and mindfulness. We Hike to Heal is a community bringing people together through nature, connection, and healing. For more information about We Hike to Heal, check out our website!

Event Information:

We’ll be meeting at the Blue Hills Trailside Museum parking lot. There is a trailside entrance which leads to our Red Dot Trail to Eliot Tower. The best part of this short and unique hike is our end destination: a stunning tower where we can enjoy views of Boston and have time in nature to decompress. This is a moderate but short walk of 1.5 miles total. (.75 miles up and .75 miles back down). This location of Blue Hills Reservation is 30 minutes from Boston and 15 minutes from Quincy. This is a moderate hike with beautiful views at the top. We welcome all fitness levels to join us; the goal is to enjoy the journey… we are never in a race! However, with it being Winter, PLEASE wear hiking boots and dress appropriately (more info at bottom).

Once we reach the Summit, we’ll plan to take a break to catch our breath, enjoy the view and do a little gratitude journaling! We will end our time with a brief meditation before heading back down. In total, this trail takes 50 minutes to complete.

Time: meet at museum parking lot at 11:45am. Please be punctual! I’ll have my “We Hike to Heal” shirt on so you recognize me 🙂

Location/Directions: 1904 Canton Ave, Milton, MA 02186 (Right near Blue Hills Ski and Tubing Area).

GPS parking lot link: click here ; we are meeting at the Blue Hills Trailside Museum Parking Lot! You will see me standing my the trailhead with a clipboard 🙂

***ALL TRAILS LINK: click here to see the trail, read information, see pictures, etc. The AllTrails app says 1.8 miles but I just did it recently and it’s closer to 1.5 miles 🙂 ***

Parking: free. We encourage carpooling or public transportation as appropriate.

Difficulty level/Distance: moderate to moderately challenging. While it is a short and gradual hike, Blue Hills hikes have lots of smaller loose rocks and there will likely be bits of ice along the way (although there is plenty of room to go around this if ice emerges). Hiking boots, not sneakers, are a must!

Restroom Facilities: Bathrooms are not guaranteed at this location so please go before hand!

What you will need for this hike:

  • Plenty of water to drink! (we recommend at least 1-3 liters)
  • Sunblock and/or hat to protect you from the sun (recommended even in winter!)
  • Comfortable hiking shoes/boots; I recommend hiking boots with strong tread and, if icy or snowy, microspikes (available at most outdoor stores or online). Again, sneakers are not very reliable for grip in the winter, so please bring boots with good grip! While this is not a long hike, it’s always good to be safe in winter conditions
  • Comfortable moisture wicking clothing – non cotton long sleeve and leggings are suggested for winter base layers! Additional layers: windproof jacket, waterproof or weather treated pants, and lined winter coats. Think: layers layers layers!
  • thick winter socks
  • Hats, gloves, handwarmers, and anything else that you like to wear in winter
  • A daypack/backpack to carry all your items
  • A towel or waterproof mat to sit on if you’re uncomfortable sitting on the ground
  • Your journal and a pen

Please review the liability waiver here and be prepared to acknowledge and accept at sign in for your event.

This event is for women identified folks 18 and older only.
